The Shakila Look |
The Shakila's engine revd up to start her journey for another unplanned trip. We picked up chain lube at the last minute and finished our breakfast. The thumping silencer said bye to our beloved ones.
The trip meter was clocking at 9160 KM. It just reminded us the BIS-916 Gold mark, hoping our trip would also be a golden one. It was then we decided to steer towards Mysore. The pleasant weather wished us best of luck for our golden journey. Having heard about the famous Military Hotel at Babu Rayankoppalu, we had to call couple of our friends to find out the exact location. It's called Jai Bhubaneswari Hotel, just before Srirangapatna bridge (It will be on your left on the way to Mysore from Bangalore). It serves very tasty non vegetarian lunch @ INR 120/- and vegetarian lunch will be arranged from a near by hotel @ INR 70/-. Some one who is interested in tasting ragi ball can have their first hand experience here. We did meet one group of oldies who were heading towards Kabini for a night stay at the PWD guest house. By the way they were partying inside their cab looked they will never grow old. Out of that one uncle maintained 3 bullets at one time, when he was of our age. Hats Off Sir ... People are scared for a second relationship, but we never say no for the second bike. Bikes never get jealous of each other.
After a wonderful lunch we headed towards Lansdowne building to pick up maps of Karnataka, South India, Kerala as we were still not certain where should we land our bums for the next 15 days. Mugs @ Doddagadiara , Maps @ Lansdowne Building , Fuel cans @ KR Market,
picking the above at their respective places, the final thing for us was to pitch up the tent. Then we started heading towards KRS backwaters which was the destination decided for tonight's stay at the lunch table.
To reach KRS backwaters you need to travel until you get a fork on the KRS road, one heading towards the KRS dam other towards the village area. KRS dam (also called Brindavan Garden) is a crowded tourist place (though worth a watch with the family) where you can see tiny, medium, big fountains lit with multiple colored lights. Its good to visit this place after sunset. The musical fountain is a treat for you if you are seeing this for the first time.
If you continue for around 2.5 kms in the village road you can see a board for Blue Lagoon Resort. You need to continue in the mud road, which starts at a turn which is almost like a 90 degree. We missed the mud road and continued to find a railway crossing and we had to travel back. The road to the backwaters looks little off roading type, but not though tough. Just before entering the backwaters you need to pay a entry fee of INR 10 for the bike. The view point for the backwaters at the end of the road is quite nice. The Sun was in a hurry to reach home, hence we started looking for an ideal place to spread our tent. After a little survey, we found a little calm, quite place away from the view point to avoid the regular public. It was pretty dark by then, but our torch, axe helped us to quickly grab the fire wood for tonight. Since it was a "baayen haath ka khel" (easy stuff) for us to put tent, which we quickly completed and started the camp fire. Bufffffffff came the fire, when we used the petrol and fire starter to get our fire up. It was quicky fire this time, not much of struggling, smoky which made us cry last time. We made a support for our cooking vessel out of the available stones nearby. Now it was time for us to make our covetous tummy happy with the MTR ready to eat. We decided to complete our dinner with 1 MTR, no 2 MTR, no 3 MTR. We ended up eating 3 MTR ready to eat. Since the light and weather wasn't in our favour, we just took only few shots from our third eye. We quickly completed the cleaning work. We carried a great satisfaction for tonight's sleep with our today's experience. We were equally excited for the next few days travel.
