It was an amazing New Year celebration at Fort Kochi. In recent years, I would say it was the best among all. We would have missed the best part it, if we would have just slept without going out to check what's happening around at 11:20 PM last night. With those golden memories still fresh in our mind, we just ordered something to answer back our hungry stomach. While Santhosh is busy asking about those small eggs at this hotel, let me bring down one of my hidden talent with pen. Santhosh is been working hard these days digging all my hidden talents. Anyway here I go with the experience of last night new year celebration and journey earlier today.

"Chal re, we will take one more spin around the beach to check what's happening. Its not good just to sleep so early on the last day of the year". We started walking at the same beach area. It was just celebration, celebration, celebration every where. The beach area was full crowded. Suddenly every one started running towards the beach ground, where we had heard the folk song earlier. We stopped couple of people to ask why were they running and they had no clue. It was just looking like they were running to save their life, running away from an dinosaur attack or may be a big volcano. Never we had witnessed such huge running crowd. The clock was ticking to enter the new year and we expected some thing would be special around the beach ground.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, 0 ... Happy New Year, and the papa effigy started burning. Series of crackers for around 10 minutes were really amazing. There were around 15000 people celebrating new year at the Fort Kochi beach. We did wish couple of people a very happy new year and took a longer route to reach the home stay. The care taker of the home stay asked us,"Bro, do you need beer". Again beer without queue in Kerala, New Year eve, We said "O yaa". We took beer free of cost and thanked him for his generous offer. So finally alcohol got added to the new year celebration. As usual, the drunken monkeys blabbered to wake up early.

No, we don't have any new year resolution to wake up early, and we are not in western ghats. Finally we ended up waking up at 8:30 AM. We got freshen up quickly and started packing our luggage. Our motorcycle did get some rest for the last 2 days. While we were tying our luggage to the motorcycle, a french traveler approached us saying "Guys, you are carrying so many things, what are you up to?". We explained him our travel experience and he was amazed. Fort kochi was getting empty. We could see most of the travelers, backpackers leaving Kochi for their next destination. We went to a different ferry station to reach Ernakulam, but it was only for people. The only option left was to reach Vypin and then take the NH 17.  We came back to the same ferry station as yesterday to board the same ferry to reach Vypin island.

From Vypin, we took one bridge and reached Ernakulam. We quickly shifted our track to NH 47 and started searching for the break fast. We had to take deviation from the highway to search for a hotel. It was worth taking that deviation as we found a hotel matching our taste, which satisfied our stomach very well. After that heavy breakfast, as usual Santhosh went on sleep and handed over the motorcycle to me. We decided to head towards Thrishur. I would say we were unlucky that we saw the sign board to Guruvayoor and Santhosh insisted me to ride towards Guruvayoor. As it is a famous temple, we would have got some nice frames. Getting a parking for the fully loaded bike was the major problem, as the pay and park rejected our request saying he would not be responsible the luggage. After some struggle, we could manage to park our motorcycle near to a shop. As photography was prohibited inside the temple, We had to make a move quickly. After buying a nice Malayalam traditional dress for Aagni and bandana for us, we throttled towards Kozhikode.

While Santhosh is roaming around on the beach walkway to search some good place for tonight's stay, let me finish up my diary. I can see lot of people taking pictures with our motorcycle and many people are approaching me looking at the luggage, helmet and more over my rider look. With our travel expedition experience, I am getting a heavy appreciation over here at Kozhikote.

The Malabar region would be very nice to drive in the early mornings, but it was getting very humid later in the afternoon. We had planed to reach Thalassery beach and since it was still further away we decided to halt at Calicut. Just before getting into the ferry at Baypore, we spent quite sometime capturing the sunset and later the light house. It was a nice view point with ramp towards the sea. Experimenting sunset, silhouette and lighthouse photography, we were very satisfied with our today's photographs. We reached the ferry which took us to Calicut side and the city was around 7 KM from there.

During this ride we saw some beautiful girls, which made me sing "Tu hi re, Tu hi re" song. Quickly we reached the marine drive of Calicut and it was love at first sight with the city. The walkway at the marine drive with bright lights was giving a great feel about the city. Given a chance, I would love to live in Calicut for some years. Santhosh just came to me saying there is a very good place, where we can sleep tonight. Before that we have to finish our dinner. Time to stop now.

Good things missed always leads to better things. As "Chor" (cooked rice) was over at one of the hotel, lead us to a different hotel, where we had an awesome dinner. The hotel waiter was able to understand Kannada and hence it was easy for us to communicate and get best of all available in the hotel. Right after dinner, we reached the beach side to have desert. While we were having ice cream at one of the shop, the shop owner said it's safe to spend night at the beach. We decided to sleep at the beach tonight, but not making the same mistake of putting the tent. Rather we just used our sleeping bags and mats. The weather is very pleasant and hopefully we will have a very nice sleep tonight.
